This was a great and challenging piece to work on. I had an idea that I wanted to make a figure out of clay as large as I could (almost life size), however the kiln is only so big. So I decided to make the figure in sections and break up the composition of the piece with wooden slats to hide the seems. Here is the end result! The figure is about 4 feet tall, composed of 4 different sections. The skull is also made out of clay and is set on a lower level to give the illusion of the figure standing on it. The figure is made from a terra cotta clay with a white slip and the skull is made from a chocolate clay with a white slip.
